Beauty: SKR Hair extensions and Nume Titan 3 Curling Wands

Happy Saturday! I wanted to do a quick blog about SKR hair extensions and the Titan 3 Nume curling wands. Since I always use both together why not blog about them together? 🙂
I’ve been trying to grow my hair since last year so when I came across SKR hair clip on extensions I was so excited! I saw a review on YouTube and in doing my research I knew these were the ones for me. They come in 14 colors and are made of 100% Remy human hair. The package comes with 10 wefts in total:
2 Wefts = 1 Clip (1.5 inch weft)
One Quad Weft = 3 Clips (7.5 inch weft)
Two Wefts =3 Clips (6 inch weft)
Five Wefts = 2 Clips (4 inch weft)

They run from $130.00 and up and they offer FREE shipping!  I used a coupon from the beauty guru that reviewed them.  If you search for the extensions on YouTube, you’ll most likely find a discount code there.  The code I used is already expired.
The packaging comes with a diagram to inform you on where to put each weft.  See below.

I ordered the Dark Brown, 20″ (185 grams). Which comes like this: IMG_3716

In the following pictures the hair is curled.  I like to curl my extensions before I clip them on, it’s so much easier for me.  You can style and wash them just like your own hair.

Tag: Would You Rather….?

The lovely Julia from Penny Pinching Perfection tagged me.  This was fun to do, I actually had to think about some of these!

1. Would you rather lose all your mascaras, eyeliners, lipsticks and lip glosses or lose all of your palettes and eyeshadows?   I have a lot of other products than palettes so I definitely would rather lose the 2 palettes I have 🙂

2. Would you rather chop off all your hair or never be able to cut it again? I’d rather to never be able to cut it again. Every single time I cut my hair I always end up missing it 😦 I love my long hair, and right now I’m trying to grow it out and it’s painful. It’s not growing as fast as it used to!

3. Would you rather have a coral cheek or a pink cheek? I love neutral colors so coral is the closest thing to it 🙂

4. If you had $1000 to spend, would you rather buy clothes or makeup? Clothes! I have more makeup than clothes lol

5. Would you rather apply lipstick as eyeliner or eyeliner as lipstick? Definitely eyeliner as lipstick, so many possibilities!!!

6. Would you rather only shop at MAC or Sephora? Sephora. So many different brands to choose from!!

7. Would you rather only use one eyeshadow color or one lip color for the rest of your life? Oh my this is a tuffy. I would have to say eyeshadow. I love lipsticks and glosses!

8. Would you rather wear winter clothes in the summer or summer clothes in winter? Depends if I’m inside or outside 😉

9. Would you rather have dark nails or bright nails all year round? This one’s easy! DARK! I can’t wear bright colors, the dark hides my flaws! If I see my nail splitting I can’t help myself!

10. Would you rather give up your favorite lip product or your favorite eye product? Eye. When I’m lazy or in a hurry I leave out the eye makeup.

11. Would you rather only be able to wear your hair in a ponytail or a messy bun?
I work in the healthcare field and it’s a messy bun everyday 😀
12. Would you rather never be able to paint your nails again or never use lip gloss?
Oh no, another hard one!!  Hmmm, look pale or have short nails forever? I would have to give up lip gloss, there’s always lipstick 😉
13. Would you rather shave your eyebrows and have none at all or Sharpie them in everyday?
Lmao!!!  I’ve seen pictures of both and trust me a sharpie is a lot better than none!!!
14. Would you rather live without makeup or nailpolish?
UGH, Nail polish. First thing people look at is your pretty face. 😉

Beauty: Green and blue gradient with striped accent nail.

So far my favorite manicure to do is gradient.  Such a simple technique for such a beautiful outcome.  For this manicure used Sinful Colors Mint Apple, China Glaze Secret Peri-wink-le, China Glaze Fairy Dust, and Seche Vite top coat.

This picture is blurred to show the Fairy Dust do it’s magic 😉

Beauty: August Ipsy Glam Bag

I’ve been a subscriber to Ipsy for three months now and I have to say I am totally in love with their service. Ipsy is a monthly beauty subscription service.  For $10.00 a month, you receive beauty samples and full size products with a bag.  Every month is different and exciting!  So far I’ve been very happy with what I’ve received.  This month’s theme is titled Glamour Academy. It’s a beautiful purple with gold shimmer for the logo and came with 5 products.

The first product is Michael Todd Jojoba Charcoal Facial Scrub.  It’s black in color, comes in a 30 ml./1 fl oz. tube.  It’s goes on very smooth and you can feel the gentle  “grains” exfoliating your skin.  It’s gentle enough for sensitive and acne prone skin.  I put a bit on my cheek and rinsed.  I definitely felt a difference.  A lot smoother and softer.  It has a very mild fragrance.

Next is MICA Beauty Shimmer Eyeshadow Powder in Bronze.  Definitely one of the most beautiful shimmers I’ve seen for an eyeshadow. It comes loose in a 2.5G container.

Next is Urban Decay Revolution Lipstick in Anarchy. These lipsticks are highly pigmented!  This beautiful color is similar to Maybeline’s  Vivid Rose from their Vivids collection.  It goes on so smooth, I wish I had gotten all 20!

Next is Pixi Beauty’s Lash Booster Mascara.  Now, I haven’t tried it yet so I can’t confirm that it does “boost” your lashes.  The color I received was Blackest Black.

Finally, we have Pacifica Alight Multi-Mineral BB Cream.  It goes on extremely light, has a light shimmer, and blends beautifully.  It has no fragrance and comes in a 0.34 fl oz tube.

Beauty: Nailspiration from my daughter’s room

Having a girl definitely has it’s perks. Her room is FULL of inspirations for nail art. Even though it doesn’t really come out the way it does in my head, it’s still fun practicing! 😀

This manicure came from  the paint on her walls.

Mom: Daycare vs. Babysitter

The daycare vs. babysitter dilemma is one I wish I didn’t have to decide on.  In a perfect world I would be a stay-at-home mom.  No one would watch or take care of her the way I would.  But I had no choice.  Would it be a daycare or babysitter?  I eventually decided on a daycare for her.  Her Godmother had her kids in the same one and I trusted her judgment.  Thankfully, I have a job that allowed me to be out of work for six months!  I would go back to work in May, and my husband would take over until September.  He’s a teacher so he only had to ask for 4 weeks of leave, then he would’ve been off in the summer anyway 😀 So Ava would be 8 months old when she would go to the daycare.

So why did I choose a daycare?  They’re smelly, they’re dirty, and the kids are always sick!  First, my best friend’s opinion on it.  I trust her with my daughter’s life.  She told me her experiences and I was almost convinced.  So I went to see it for myself.  When I walked in I wasn’t impressed, I kept thinking they won’t take care of her like me! I talked to them, asked questions, WARNED them about the type of mother I am, and left.  So September came and the first week I dropped her off and kept her there an hour more each day to get her (really me) used to it.

Fast forward 2 and a half years later: I’m glad I made the decision to put her there.  Ava always looked happy when we picked her up and she didn’t cry when we left her in the morning.  Her vocabulary is incredible for such an age.  The things she learned there she wouldn’t had learned with a sitter.  They love her just like she loves them.  Yes she gets sick often, but I’m always told it builds up their immunity.

Why not a sitter?  Well, what happens when your sitter calls and says she’s not feeling well and she can’t watch your child?  Or decides to go on vacation? You might have to miss days from work and I’m sure your boss wouldn’t  appreciate that.  The daycare is open all year, except for major holidays.  There’s more than one person there at all times, they are CPR certified, and they teach.  My daughter is a picky eater and they help in any way they can.  One even gives Ava her own daughter’s food to try just to see if she’ll eat it.  They keep in contact with me, send me pics and videos of her.  They listen to me and do anything I ask.

How to choose:

  1. Word of mouth.  Find out from your friends where they take their kids.  Find out the good and the bad.
  2. Once you choose, go see it.  Go to the daycare, talk to the teachers, and take a look around.  Are they friendly, is it clean?   Ask questions.  How many teachers to a child? Are they CPR certified, do they know what to do in case your child is choking, how often do they clean, etc. etc.
  3. Do a trial.  Take a week and leave your child for a couple of hours the first day, then an hour extra the next day and so on.  Look at your child’s disposition. Is she or he happy?  Does she or he want to leave immediately?
  4. Once it’s decided that it’s permanent, make sure the teachers communicate!  Communication is so important!  I remember leaving notes in her diaper bag with specific instructions and I made sure they knew I would be VERY upset if I didn’t get a phone call in case anything happened.

Anywhere that you put your child will never compare to the care a parent will give them.  Whatever you decide, babysitter or daycare, make sure you did the research and you feel comfortable.

Good luck!

Beauty: Striped Manicure

b228fc954bdd124fda06f5accf075893

Ok, so two things I’m not too fond of when it comes to manicures so far.  Sheer polishes and striping tape.  I can put the tape on with no problem but once it’s on I look at it and go, “Yuck!’  The tape on this manicure used to be purple.  For some reason it changed to silver.  I tried with and without top coat and still it lost the purple color.  I guess Ebay is not the place to buy it huh?  Sheer polishes are a whole different rant!

striped

The color on my nails are from my Ulta haul (post Here) OPI DS Opulence, China Glaze No Fair Lady, and Zoya Yasmeen.  I LOVE the OPI color,  unfortunately the pictures give it no justice. (I need practice taking pics).
